the soft passage of time
Perfectly representative of my day! I spent my day off mostly on the couch wrapped in a colorful afghan made with love about a girl in love and chatting with the man I love. I wasn’t being a political activist today, but I think love is a good way to spend MLK Day.16/365 - Jan. 16, 2012

red gold green
Life as an artist is interesting. Sometimes you’re just sitting there, and something strikes you: You’re eating chocolates wrapped in red, green, and gold, on a wooden table with red, green, and gold coasters, with a red Coke can and green water bottle on them. Then you notice your gold Wii remote to the left and the book you’re reading with a green cover. And the room you’re in has green walls besides. It’s enough to send you spinning!15/365 - Jan. 15, 2012

round as dubloons
Back in the early days of Limewire, I used to download music like a pirate raids a port town. After the third major virus and not wanting to steal anymore, I made friends with iTunes and Amazon Music. Still, I look for legal ways to get free or cheap music, and I still buy CDs.
My Venus Hum CD just came in the mail from Swapacd.com. Bought Matchbox 20 for $2 at Goodwill. The Newsboys came from the college radio station selling off all their CDs, and I might have paid 50 cents for this one. A reformed pirate still likes to go on treasure hunts! CDs are round and shiny, right?14/365 - Jan. 14, 2012

eight inches
Got about eight inches of snow. It was so bad, they closed the office early. It finally looks like winter out there! I have been finding myself thinking it’s March a lot lately.12/365 - Jan. 12, 2012

leaf stripes
There’s a giant peace lily in the corner of the lobby at work. It’s moved around the building many times in its years of tenure. Now, in the early afternoon, sunlight filters through the blinds to to backlight the leaves with stripes.10/365 - Jan. 10, 2012

a savage tiger looking for a cupcake

I couldn’t choose just one, needed to be shown in this series. Thank you to my darling hubby, John, for help with half the idea and execution. Thank you to my coworker, Nicole, for making absolutely delicious strawberry cupcakes that looked so good they needed to be photographed before the tigers got to them.

I won’t win any prizes for this photo, but I wanted to show what I do on Sunday nights. I build relationships with teens as we all try to walk closer to God.8/365

switchback
Dr. Kathryn Switchback, professor at Bridgeford College, formerly a rising star in her field of Mesoamerican Cultures. At the end of the day, she’s home with a cup (or two?) of coffee, cross referencing different texts to corroborate her theory of a proto-civilization—the theory that got her laughed out of the archaeological community. She’s dead now, but I resurrected her for a friend’s purpose.
